Question: Are washburn guitars like cheapo walmart guitars? or are they good guitars?

My uncle said to get an ibanez guitar since I am just starting to play. But, I found this great deal on a couple Washburn guitars and I was wondering what the quality was of Washburn guitars? Please, I need an answer tonight!

Washburn is in a class with Ibanez, to the extent that they're both made somewhere in Asia. There used to be a highly respected American guitar called Washburn but the new ones have no relation to those. Bottom line, a lot depends on the price of the guitar and the components and craftsmanship of construction but there's no reason why a Washburn wouldn't be every bit as good as an Ibanez and maybe better.
