Question: What is the best way to learn guitar without going to take lessons/classes?

Learn from tabs and tutorials on youtube. For tabs i suggest ultimate-guitar.com and if its possible try to get Guitar Pro 5 the program is very helpful

I want to learn too. My guess would be online videos, and guitar manuals. Learn the tabs for songs you like (start simple) and maybe learn from a friend if possible. My friend Alice is going to teach me over skype when I get a webcam. But the best thing to do is to take lessons

Buy one. Read up a little on line about chord theory. Start learning by playing songs you like that are simple. Gradually learn more and more chords, scales and finger picking techniques. Most of what you need to get started you can find on YouTube.

I would use DVDs. You can pick up a pretty good course providing a lot of information about guitar playing. It's much more cheaper than having lessons and you can usually get good support online with people also doing the course

There are a bunch of guitar learning websites that can help, for example ultimate-guitar.com and theguitarlesson.com give free video guitar lessons.
