Question: Is it hard to self teach yourself guitar?

I Just got an acoustic guitar and I don't want to spend a lot of money so do you think I could self teach myself guitar for like the internet and so did you teach yourself guitar was it hard?Or am I better off just getting lessons I would like to be able to play like Taylor Swift kind of music, kinda like Miley Cyrus I guess how long do you think It would take for me to play like that if I self taught myself or if I took lessons Thank you very much!

Its not that hard, im teaching myself now. There are lots of tabs on the internet for pretty much anything you would want to play, chord diagrams, simple explanations and youtube help videos. I have been teaching myself for about 3 months and i can play all the basic stuff, if you have any friends that play you can get them to show you the things that you dont understand. Good Luck = D

It wouldn't be hard to play any taylor swift music if you taught yourself, i'd say it would take you about 2 months if you practise everyday, i can play guitar but i had lessons. :)

If you're gonna teach yourself to play, you need video lessons, its the only real substitute for a live teacher. If you're a beginner, text only lessons will likely only confuse you ('bend a quarter diminished note on the 5th fret of the 4th string.. WHAT?!) Catch my drift? You need to see what it should look and sound like, not just some text explanation by an expert. This site has a free video lessons program that teaches you to play easy songs in a two weeks.
