When learning the guitar have you ever felt like you cannot progress, or that you suck?
Do you think learning the guitar at 19 is too late?
I am purchasing an acoustic guitar next week for my birthday. I have always wanted to learn but my mom has never let me do anything because she is so strict with studying. It's so annoying because I know that I would be so talented if i learned when I was younger. I even used to play the tenor saxophone for 3 yrs from 11 to 13 yrs old then when i entered high school my mom made me give it up because she wanted me to study and didn't want me to buy a sax as I used to borrow a sax in middle school and highschool you were required to purchase or rent. since I was young and didn't have ajob i had to give it up. It really upsets me because i loved playing the sax and had a passion for it and now its one of my greatest regrets.I probably dont even remember how to play. Since i have a job now i can buy my own saxophone, but my mom is still convincing me not to get one since im in college but i dont think it will interfere with my studies if i practice an hour a day. What do you think, is it too late?
I am going to start learning the guitar.. but.?
What guitar should I get. I was thinking Ibanez. But, should I do acoustic or electric? What's easier to learn? I hear that there are guitars that have both acoustic electric options. How does that work? Would you recommend that?

I am learning the guitar, but I wish to learn the tin whistle as well. Should I take the new instrument up?
I had first begun taking guitar lessons as a kid. But because of snotty kids in my class and not getting along with my old teacher, I had quit. It's been a around half a year since I took up playing my guitar again. This time around I am really enjoying it, and also get along well with my new tutor. However, I was recently mesmerized by the tin whistle. And I would love to be able to play that too. Should I try my hand at the new instrument as well? Is that a good idea?
How should I begin learning the guitar?
My whole family plays and I was feeling the urge to self teach myself and get taught from my brother. What should I do? Any websites to teach how to read sheet music and chords?

Learning the guitar: I feel extremely overwhelmed right now?
I've been spending my past hour looking up books on Amazon about guitar theory. I click on the preview of the book and every single one I've read, I do not understand. I feel like the text is just throwing a bunch of vocabularies at me which I don't even know.I've played the violin in the school orchestra for 6 years, but all I really know is how to read notes and the violin theory. I also know a little bit of the latin terms such as moderado, allegro, da capo, piano, accent, etc. I know scales and things like sharps & flats, major & minors but only for the violin. There's so much to learn, I don't know where to start. I have an acoustic guitar with steel strings. My fingers are strong, and I have thick calluses. The hardest song I can play is Blackbird by The Beatles but I only learned it off of tabs.I really want to start learning how to improvise. I understand that I have to learn some scales. But what if I have all the scales down? What exercises do I have to do to make music out of the notes in the scales?I cannot get an instructor. I'm only 16 and my mom said if I wanted an instructor I would have to pay for it myself, which I don't have the money for. I'm kind of n my own here. And yes, I know about Ultimate Guitar Tabs. It's a great site, but I doubt it's going to help me learn how to improvise. This video really inspired meyoutube.com watch?v IPlUS LKw2g& list FLB07u GRRlJZM9PrNC34DYA& index 1

How to learn the guitar?
Hi I'm a 15 year old guy and I am interested in learning how to play an acoustic guitar I currently know nothing about musical instruments and nothing about how to read music or any definitions and wanted to know if there were any good books to read or videos to watch to learn the basics of music and the acoustic guitar? Anything would be helpful as I am a complete beginner at this and really really really want to learn how to play the acoustic guitar and maybe just maybe even do some covers of my favourite songs in the next couple years. I am also getting a guitar called the fender dg8s and wanted to know if that's a good starting guitar as it's close to my price range and if it would be good for a few years of heavy practising.
