Question: Easiest way to learn rock guitar? easier songs?

I'm trying to relearn guitar and actually read guitar tab. Any tips as to it being easier to read a book/ get a cd teaching pack or do it by ear with a guitar tab book and music cd. I'm looking for a cheaper way to do it. Teen Spirit by Nirvana was my first song I learned. I took guitar for about 4 years then quit. At the time I quit I was playing Offspring and some metal power chords only. Any specific books/ youtube videos on terminology? I'd like to possibly learn the power chords and then play notes later.

The way I learned how to read tabs was actually all online by searching the web. I love using 911tabs.com or ultimate-guitar.com Those sites are helpful = ] Plus it's free so how much better can it get?! lol

How I learned was by buying an old guitar book w/ chords from a used book store, teaching myself all the basic chords, then learning tableture, and getting a teacher. It's worth it, trust me. The first song I learned w/ tab was Brain Damage by Pink Floyd, which is easy if you know the basic chords. It's a lotta fun! I am currently waiting for my first electric guitar, A cherry red fender strat, to come in the mail! I'm so excited! Good luck and happy playing.

For a website for tabs, try tabnabber.com. For songs you should try Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here. Don't go for the solos, just try out the rhythm guitar parts. Skip the hammer ons until you're more confident with your playing. Another song is the intro (only, the rest is kinda hard) of Relient k's When I Go Down. It's pretty easy, you just need to be able to play fingerstyle.
