I really want to learn how to play guitar?

Question: I really want to learn how to play guitar?

(Posted by: Snoodin on 2010-05-18 17:43:45)

It's always been my dream to one day just pick up a guitar and jam. I'm working on basic chords, and I don't know where to continue from there. Any tips?

PluckandPlayGuitar has free video based lessons for absolute beginners and assume you know nothing or close to nothing. It takes you step by step through the basic guitar chords one by one. There's also lessons on guitar scales, techniques and some easy songs to play. pluckandplayguitar.com/

It's very important to have rhythm, especially if you ever want to play in a band. A good fun way to develop rhythmic proficiency is to play along with a drum machine. I use the trial version of PC Drummer... you can also play along with recorded songs. So, I'd say keep working on your chords until they are second nature and work on your rhythm. Then from there you can move to scales and theory. The best thing you can do is take lessons from a good teacher.
