Is it hard to learn how to play guitar? And can someone give me tips?
Me and my friend are making a band, and well...I'm going to learn how to play guitar for it. Yeah... we obviously haven't found a bass player and a drummer.. but yeah. I'm really determined to do this, for myself and the band... I only know how to play the chromatic scale, and only on one string... but... that's a good start I suppose just.. can someone give me tips?

What's the best way to learn how to play guitar?
My husband has been teaching me how to play guitar, but would it be better to go to a community college or a Professional music teacher instead? There is also online learning sessions, books and DVDs. What would you recommend? My hubby has been playing for 35 years and he's awesome, but I feel that I might get more out of an actual teacher. I mean, don't they get actual training on how to teach and how the learning process works? How did you learn to play guitar?
I want to learn how to play guitar. (METAL STYLE) Please help! I'll be your best friend! Please?
If anyone can help me, that would be great I love Jim Root's playing style, and want to learn it. I've never played guitar though. I have a standard Fender Starcaster with an SP 10 amp and no pedal or any cash I do have picks . Nothing special. I have absolutely mo idea what a note is. I've only used my guitar to play around on. I have NO CASH at all I'm only 13. I already play drums and do vocals for a band. I want to learn how to play scales, notes, power chords, tune my guitar, and learn the metal style. I basically want to learn how to play like Mr. James Donald Root. If you could help, I would appreciate it. I would also like to learn how to play pinch harmonics and anything else I might need to know Please help It'll be a good deed BTW I've already looked through YouTube So please chill out with the YouTube thing

I've been trying to learn how to play guitar for 4 months... no improvement?
I do want to learn very badly. I can't afford lessons so I've been watching lots of youtube videos. I can't play any chords though because when I watch the instructors online slowly position each finger on each string and then strum the chord... I try to do the same but there is this clicking sound that comes when I strum. And before too long, I have to stop trying to play that chord because my fingers hurt from holding the strings down for so long. I really don't understand how people can play chords without having their fingers touch all the strings as opposed to just the ones you're pressing down.I took lessons when I was 10 and never learned anything because I had this same exact problem. My question is... is it pointless for me? Should I just forget it and sell my guitar?

I learned how to play guitar by ear. Now I'm trying to learn the right way. Are old habits hard to break?
I've been playing for 16 years. I have a good ear for music. I learned mainly by ear but I also learned all of my chord formations bar chords, open chords, etc. and some scales from my father. And then I learned how to solo by watching other blues guitarists. But most of what I have done is by ear. I never knew all of the notes on the fretboards. I just played what sounded right. Now I am trying to learn the CAGED system. It makes no sense to me. I am also trying to learn arpeggios, modes, and complex scales up and down the neck from music books. In other words, I am trying to piece it all together by connecting the scales on the fretboard. Oh, and I am trying to learn a little bit of music theory, too. Ah, none of this stuff in instructional books really makes much sense to me. Is that because it is hard to relearn something you learned in a different way? In other words, are old musical habits hard to break?
I am having such a difficult time learning how to play guitar. Any help?
I've been trying to learn to play guitar for over a year now. All I can do is learn chords really fast and read super simple tabs. I've begun trying to memorize scales, but I don't know why I need to know them or if I'm doing it right. I'm using the Star Scales app on my iPhone. I've gotten books on learning to play guitar, but I'm just not falling into it like I thought I would. I play piano, and I learned that very quickly. Any help?
