Honestly it's just being able to tell the how many steps apart the notes are. It's not like you hear a note and say, oh that's C#2. There's some notes you could call out, but it's not very easy. Instead you just listen to the progressions, how one note relates to the other, and then you'll learn the pattern. After you figure that out, then you can find out the correct Key and correct pitch of each note. You can find a free online ear trainer to practice. It just teaches you the sound of a half step, whole step, 1 1/ 2 step, etc. Up or Down. And that's really all there is to it. Good Luck. |
