Question: How to play bass guitar, i am new at bass guitar.?

Hey everyone, firstly i want to start playing bass guitar which i have never played before, and i found lot of bass tabs in internet, i want to play those tabs but i even dunno what is tabs, havnt got any clue :(. Okay so you put your finger on the third fret on the second string down from the top. E is the fattest A is a little skinnier and so on. E is the closest to you. With your finger holding down the A string 3rd fret, pluck the string. Then depending on how fast the song goes you go to the next note. Just move your finger up one string. E string 3rd fret. You will do that four times until the 02 part. After finishing those notes, quickly go to the A string pluck the string without holding down anything then quickly hammer on your finger on the A string 2nd fret. You can pluck again or just pluck it once and quickly nailing your finger down on the 2nd fret. This is called a hammer-on. It's used to help bassists and guitarists play notes faster.
