Question: How to learn the guitar?

Hi I'm a 15 year old guy and I am interested in learning how to play an acoustic guitar I currently know nothing about musical instruments and nothing about how to read music or any definitions and wanted to know if there were any good books to read or videos to watch to learn the basics of music and the acoustic guitar? Anything would be helpful as I am a complete beginner at this and really really really want to learn how to play the acoustic guitar and maybe just maybe even do some covers of my favourite songs in the next couple years. I am also getting a guitar called the fender dg8s and wanted to know if that's a good starting guitar as it's close to my price range and if it would be good for a few years of heavy practising.

Sources for finding information are listed below. Playing guitar is a two part effort. First there is the technique of playing, learning all those picking styles and strumming (rhythm with sound). Second is in learning the theory of music. Not all musicians learn theory, but as my mentor said there are a small percentage of the musicians that can play by ear and translate that into the music theory structure. Music principles are how we communicate music in a written form and play within a framework. Most theory is a by product of learning an instrument, however, it is disjointed in most cases. It would pay to get as much theory understanding as possible as quick as possible. Check the references for some good information.
