I don't mean to dodge the question, but the answer could be "no song " or "every song " depending on the key. A capo is simply a tool that is used to easily change keys. Even if a particular artist used a capo to play in their particular key, you don't necessarily need to use one. Here's an example: George Harrison played "Here Comes The Sun " with a capo on the 7th fret. He could have just played it without a capo in the key of A, but the licks are uniquely suited to a D chord formation. But if you want to play "Here Comes The Sun " in the key of D, you don't need a capo at all. Exact same fingering, just a different key. So ultimately, you never need a capo, except in rare circumstances like I just described.....and that's going to be determined by your singer's vocal range. |
