Music is about passion. If you have a passion for blues guitar, by all means go ahead and explore it. Play bass and guitar if you want. The instrument you will be good at is the one you want to play, because it will keep you practicing. You should know that bass players are more in demand than guitarists when it comes to joining a band, but that may not be something you want to do anyway. Good luck with whatever you choose and congratulations on discovering the blues and JM...both excellent. :) |

Learn to play guitar first and once you get the hang of it, you can easily pick up bass. |

Play both. Don't have to choose when it comes to having fun with instruments. The fact that you can already play bass is a big jump start. |

I think you should keep playing Bass and also learn to play guitar. If you have been playing bass for two years then guitar will come to you more easily then a raw beginner . Especially if by now you Know your fretboard. then learning two more strings should be no problem. As I am a guitarist that wants to buy a Bass to have as a second instrument. |

Why not play both? I'm gonna learn bass, but I'm certainly not gonna give up the guitar. Of course that means I can't make fun of you bass players anymore... hahaha just kidding, bass is cool. |

You dont have to ' JUMP ' to guitar . you gotta stick to bass and also learn te guitar as your second instrument. btw as you play bass, you must have a nice understanding of rhythm, so u can start playing basic chords. it doesnt matter what you play. you just have to have passion for music. Best of luck!! |

I play the bass and I can't imagine playing anything else. I agree with Monkey that you should play the instrument you have a passion for. The main thing to remember is "A jack of all trades is a master of none ". Try not to devote too much time to both instruments or you will find a lack of skill in both. Ever hear Flea play the six string or Eddie Van Halen play the bass? Although I'm sure each player can switch it up the reason they are both so good at what they do is because they devote so much time to the instrument they love to play. |
