Say i wanted to use some guitar tabs for the piano?

Question: Say i wanted to use some guitar tabs for the piano?

(Posted by: usa_audi_tt on 2010-03-10 08:23:32)

I've been playing piano for a long time (9 years) but am new to using chords and things like that. i found this guitar tab for "Hallelujah " and don't know what to do with my hands at all times. I am only playing the chords one at a time with the right hand. If I see a "C " i play a c chord with my right hand and it matches the song and sounds alright. but what should i be doing with my left hand? so far, i haven't been using it and don't know what if anything it should be playing. could you please explain to me what i should do? lol. thanks. http:/ / www.ultimate- guitar.com/ tabs/ r/ rufus_wainwright/ hallelujah_crd.htm

Hey, using guitar chords to play the piano is a great way to play. I've been using that method for the past three years or so and it's really effective and fun. What you can try doing with the left hand is just playing an octave of the chord that you're playing with the right hand. For example, if you were to play a C chord, you would play a C octave with your left hand. Try changing things up to... play a simple progression with your right or left hand. For example, sticking with the C chord, play the C chord for a measure with your right hand, and with your left hand alternate between a low C, a middle G, and the next C. If you time it right, you can get a pretty awesome rhythm going. You can also try alternating the chord sequence in your right hand to make it sound more like the music. The root position isn't always the best way to play the chord. Hope this helps :)
