Question: Can i play my bass through a guitar amp?

Not really can I, but should I? Its an ibanez gio and the amp is a 75w peavey vyper solid state. About to start playing shows and dont really have money for a bassamp so is this a good idea or am I gonna blow the amp or speaker out?

I wouldn't suggest it as you run a vary real chance of causing damage to the amp. Perhaps rent or borrow an amp for the shows?

Generally speaking its not good to play a bass through a guitar amp. Both the speaker and the amp itself was not designed for bass tones.

OI wouldn't recommend it. You will most likely blow the speaker out. The speakers in guitar amps aren't made to handle the low bass frequencies, especially at the volume levels needed to play with a band. You could possibly make a trade for a bass amp , borrow one , or rent one.
