Price doesn't always relate to how much you like a guitar. Fenders are great guitars. Gibsons are too. If you like Fenders better (I do), go with a Fender.

I've owned both and loved them both. An American Strat is hard to beat, just a beautiful guitar. The Gibson SG is also fantastic and I think it's one of the smoothest guitars I've played. Not too heavy like a lot of Gibson's.

Well, in a sense, Gibsons are not more expensive. Epiphone is a wholly owned subsidary of Gibson, and almost all their products are value-priced versions of the Gibson product, but made in China instead of Gibsons plants in Tennessee and Montana. The factory in China is not a licensee, it is actually owned, operated, and managed by Epiphone, USA. Likewise, Fender markets their "Standard " line at the same price-point as the Epiphone product. Those are often referred to as MIM's or Mexi's, as the Standards are made at Fender's wholly-owned plant in Ensenada, Mexico, instead of Corona, CA, where the American Fenders are built. The MIM product is comparable in both price and quality to the Epiphones. Both companies oversee the QC and materiel for the lower-line guitars. Never mind Squire, they are built in Indonesia, China, and Korea by licensees, not directly by Fender. If you like Fenders, thats great. If you like Gibbys, great. Guitars are about love. So love the girl you love, ya know? As you get older it won't matter anyway, because you canhave BOTH.

Price means NOTHING in any aspect of life! Is spending $500 to see Celine Dion better value than spending $30 to see Mastodon? You prefer Fender guitars- they have a different sound and feel then Gibson. There are Fenders guitars costing just as much as Gibsons- the Custom Shop and signature Strats are REALLY expensive. I personally prefer Les Pauls over anything, but that's me. Whatever guitar says 'hello' when you play it, that's your axe.

They sound different my friend I played Fenders for over 10 years , and I like the C neck with 21 frets , I owned 3 US made Fenders and I have Crafted In Japan Fenders amazing Fender stocks! I also owned one Robin Trower Fenders which I adore!!! I used Gibson flying V ( 1958 ) for few of my solos, and I loved it for its tones, I love what Michael Schenker Gibson tone in the 70s Good American Fenders are as expensive as Gibsons Best wishes

The playability of a Fender Stratocaster is an amazing thing. The strings are, I believe, longer from bridge seat to nut and that makes them feel loose and likewise much more bendable. Also, the huge frets compliment the great action. I've owned both and The Fender Strat is the most versatile guitar on the market and best bang for the buck, by far.
