How much does it cost to install an ebony fretboard on guitar?
i found a really nice guitar, but the only thing missing is the ebony fretboard, how much will it cost?how bout installing shark fin inlays?
Guitar fretboard finger positions?
hello...iam new to guitar .can any anyone tell me what is the procedure of fretboard fingering,i means which finger is to be used for which fret....i thought that fret 1234 is played by index,middle,ring,pinky ,fret 5678 is played by i,m,r,p fingers ,9101112 fret is played by i,m,r,p fingers ...but in the web i saw that , Notes on the fourth and fifth frets will be played by first finger only. Notes on sixth fret will be played by second finger only. Notes on seventh fret will be played by third finger only. Notes on eighth and ninth frets will be played by fourth finger only. ...iam very confused so pls kindly clear my doubt
The strings on my guitar are in the wrong place on the fretboard, how can I fix this?
I have a Jackson RR3 with a floyd rose licensed jackson floating bridge. A while ago one of the pin things that the bridge is anchored to came loose, so I took it to my local guitar shop for them to fix it. They also lowered the action for me, however when I got it back I noticed that the low e string was very close to the top of the fretboard, and the high e string had a large gap between it and the bottom of the fretboard. The gaps between each string have not been affected the position of the strings as a whole has been offset. Is there any way I can fix this without having to take it back to the shop again?

Violen fretboard help please.?
ATM I cant afford to take any lessons so im doing what I can with internet resources. I just got a new violin today and me being a guitar player im a bit confused about the fretboard on the violin. The one I got has absolute no markings on the neck at all to show me where to place my fingers for certain notes. I cant seem to find anything on the net other then how to hold the violin and where to place your fingers while at rest. If anyone can point me to a website or websites that could help me id greatly appreciate it.Thanks for the answers so far they are very help full, but I would like to add that im trying to learn the violin for personal entertainment. What would be a good cleaner for a maple fretboard?
I know lemon oil is no good on maple, but are there any other oils or polishes maybe a wax that will give it a nice shin and fresh feel?

How to tell when your guitar fretboard has good quality wood?
so im going to buy a new guitar soon im throwing my begginner one out the window,its complete crap so what ive noticed with a cheaper fretboard, the wood is softer,and it warps if it is left in a high temp atmosphere, which messes with the sound. my nail prints are left on the fretboard due to it being soft.so which woods are better quality?can you list them with thier names rosewood etc. sam which one is the most expensive vs. the cheapest
Electric guitars: What is the piece where the strings lay going to the fretboard?
Coming from the tuning pegs, their is a resting piece that has a groove for all 6 strings to lay on, on their way to the fretboard. If you go to the pickups, you've went way to far. On cheaper guitars, it is a cheap piece of usually white plastic. How can I get a left handed one to put on a right handed guitar?Yea, I'd rather have a lefty, but learned on a right one. I've pretty much discovered two things 1. you can get identical sound quality out of a switched guitar if you learned to put attack and spirit into it. 2. that's all I've ever been able to afford.
Whats the perfect fretboard fret separation?
I'm building an electric guitar and I wanted to put together a type of fretboard that I've seen only once. It was on a guitar that my friend's uncle built for him and they both passed in a house fire over night, the guitar is gone as well. The frets weren't bars all the way across the board but rather, differently spaced depending on the string. his uncle called it the perfect fret separation. I can't seem to find the set up anywhere on the web. no one seems to know what I'm talking about. can anybody help? LucasManexactly can you get me details or specs or anything that would help me out
