(Posted by: GrimRed on 2010-04-21 13:05:32)
Can anyone give me a good, affordable, guitar and amp (or a pack) for beginners? |

I think the best way to pick a guitar is to actually go in a guitar store and try them out. I recently tried a $350 Epiphone SG and it's amazing, but I'd say it's more for intermediates. Epiphone, LTD, and Ibanez are all good brands, so I'd start looking there. As for an amp, check out the Spider amps. I have like a Spider IV Line VI amp or something like that haha, but it's actually reallyyy good and it only cost $100. It has effects too such as drive, echo, reverb, phaser, flange, and such. |

I started out with a Fender Squire package a loooonnnngg time ago. It comes with an amp. You should be able to find one at almost any guitar store. They are very cheap, not sure how much but probably around $200 |

I don't know where you live or if they have a Sam Ash there but when i was about 6 years ago my mom got me a Fender Squier Stratocaster set for about $400 or so. (Around xmas time) It came with the guitar, 15 watt amp, strings, picks, strap, a couple books, a case (not hard), and a couple other things. If you're jsut starting out, it's a great deal. :) |

Cheap guitars are a false market. I would recommend not going below $300 for a guitar, a nice guitar from the start will help you develop quickly and keep you from being frustrated with a low quality instrument. Do your research and check out this site. musiciansfriend.com/ |

You should try out guitars and amps at the store because many people have different opinions and different sounds they are trying to achieve. Also, I recommend that you don't buy a pack, as you can usually buy an amp and guitar separately for the same price but with better quality. Anyway, here are some recommendations: Amps: Visit this site for useful info: ultimate-guitar.com/ forum/ showthread.php?t= 278232 *I have heard bad things about the Spider IV or any of the Marshall MG amps, so you may want to avoid those..* -Vox Valvetronix guitarcenter.com/ Vox-Pathfinder-V9168R-15w-1x8-Guitar-Combo-Amp-481948-i1145733.gc -Peavey Vypyr guitarcenter.com/ Peavey-Vypyr-15-15W-1x8-Guitar-Combo-Amp-104922851-i1413605.gc -Roland Cube/ Microcube guitarcenter.com/ Roland-Cube-15X-Amp-104087572-i1169242.gc guitarcenter.com/ Roland-Micro-Cube-Combo-Amp-102542180-i1175936.gc Guitars: A site with guitar info: ultimate-guitar.com/ forum/ showthread.php?t= 365675 -Yamaha Pacifica guitarcenter.com/ Yamaha-PAC112J-Electric-Guitar-33950-i1146645.gc -Ibanez RG guitarcenter.com/ Ibanez-RG120-Electric-Guitar-103576583-i1167511.gc Hope this helps.. |

Going to a store to try out a guitar first is the best way to pick one out. it has to feel right and sound good, and if it doesn't you will never feel comfortable with it. to me the best company in my opinion is dean guitars when looking for a beginner guitar they give you so much quality for less money than a company like epiphone or squire would and for amps, a 10 watt ibanez is very good for a beginning guitarist good luck |
